1.  Light the way June 8

Join the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America June 8 for its first annual Vigil for Lost Promise: Remembering Those Who Have Died From Drugs, held at the Drug Enforcement Agency Headquarters in Arlington, Va., at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Wall will be established for parents, siblings and friends to post a photo and brief story. Even if you can’t attend the vigil, you are invited to email a photo and story for inclusion in the wall at vigilforlostpromise@gmail.com. The wall will become part of DEA's traveling exhibit, Target America: Opening Eyes to the Damage Drugs Cause.  The last day to register for the vigil is May 15.  Click here for more information.

3. Send us your mailing lists for outreach material

Included in the mailings are the Breaking the Silence action guide, a promotional brochure and a cover letter from your organization.  If you are interested, please send an email to sroff@pajournalism.com.

4. Consider writing an op-ed
An opinion-editorial, or op-ed, is a powerful vehicle to change minds and perceptions on issues related to addiction prevention, treatment and recovery in your community.    To take full advantage of the media spotlight from the Silent Treatment series distributed Aug. 2, consider writing an op-ed and submitting it to your local newspaper.  For some tips and suggestions on how to create an effective piece, visit Writing an Opinion-Editorial (Op-Ed) from the Breaking the Silence action guide.
