Carrick Forbes, 21, was the subject of a
2005 NBC "Dateline" special report, "Saving
Carrick," that explored her addiction to
heroin. Today, methadone and advocacy are part
of her life in recovery,
chronicled here.

A company
of 13- to 23-year-old actors who share their
experiences with addiction through theater as
part of an alcohol and drug prevention program
based in Tucson, Ariz.
The company performs for thousands of young
people every year in schools and community
centers, taking the stage to reveal the
progression of their disease, from the thrill of
experimentation to the pain and isolation of
addiction, and finally to the challenge of
recovery. Following each performance, the cast
candidly answers questions from the audience.
C.A.S.T. members are trained in peer education,
attending weekly group therapy and three 12-Step
meetings a week. They rehearse from July to
September, and tour with the performance they
create from September to June. For more

From our visitors:
I recently had the pleasure of reading the article
that (Sara Solovitch) eloquently wrote about Hollie
and her recovery from the disease of addiction. I
wanted to thank you for writing such an honest
piece. Hollie and I were roommates during her entire
stay at Chrysalis House and we graduated on the same
day, March 22nd. We are great friends and sisters in
recovery. I am blessed to know her and truly
appreciate what you did. You are a champion for
showcasing the hope that people have who choose to
live instead of give into the disease of addiction.
Most sincerely, Susie Quinn
